Artists’ work to be featured in AMITYE


Hubbards’ old garage on the Carenage is the venue where AMITYE, an exhibition of new works by visiting Haitian artist Jean Renel Pierre-Louis and collaborating Grenadian artists will be featured.

An initiative of the Caribbean Art project (CAp) and artiste Suelin Maria Low Chew Tung, the opening reception will be on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 5:30 p.m.

Painter, photographer and filmmaker Jean Renel (artist name PrensNelo) is a protégé of Mario Calixte, a former professor of ENARTS (Ecole Nacional Des Artes Haiti). He has participated in several group events including the 2012 Promart Haiti Atelier d’Art International. His work has also been exhibited in Haiti, the Dominican Republic (2003), the United States (2005), and Switzerland and Brazil (2009).

PrensNelo is versed in the various styles of Haitian painting, but prefers the surrealist and abstract styles. His works in the Friendship exhibition are the result of his month-long residency in Grenada. (LS)
