Police charge 14th murder accused for 2012

WHEN 29-year-old Kelon Phillip of Après Toute appears in court on November 2, he will not be facing a charge of dangerous harm because the police have upgraded the charge to murder following the death of a victim.

Fifty-four-year-old Cuthbert Phillip of Après Toute, St. David died on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at the General Hospital. He had sustained injuries to his face during an incident, which occurred on Saturday, October 6, 2012.

Kelon Phillip was charged in connection with his death. An autopsy report revealed Cuthbert died as a result of severe brain edema, laceration of the brain with extensive cerebral haemorrhage and trauma to the eyelid with perforation to the left orbita.

The charge of murder was laid against Kelon subsequent to his reappearance in court for the initial charge of causing dangerous harm. This is Grenada’s 14th murder accused for 2012.

The two, according to police, are relatives and had a disagreement over ownership of property. (LS)
