ST. DAVID’S ON TOP – leads in the Nixons Electrical National Masters Football Competition

IT was another exciting victory for St. David’s as they enjoyed a second win away from home against Queens Park Rangers on Sunday.

St. David’s are now on six  points from their two matches. After Ray Duncan opened the scoring in the first half with a superb strike, it was then smooth sailing as they drubbed Queens Park Rangers 4-1 in front of a vociferous small crowd.

The previous day, the ‘Big Parish’ men led by GFA Technical Director, Lester Smith, held St. Paul’s to a 1-1 draw at the Pearls ground even though St. Paul’s was boasting a number of ex national players.

In other matches played on Sunday, defending champions Real Old Men suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of St. John’s 5-2 over at the Cuthbert Peters Park. St. John’s is also on six points from two matches.

The tournament continued yesterday when Fontenoy United was to face St. John’s at Queens Park, St. Andrew’s was to journey over to face St. David’s at Belle Vue. Real Old Men was to be at the Alston George to play against Hurricanes. (LS)
