Grenadian to head regional investment body

Ronald Theodore, Vice President for Marketing and Promotion for the Grenadian Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), has been elected to lead the Board of the Caribbean Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (CAIPA) as its president. The association, through its support partner Caribbean Export, issued a press release on Friday of the outcome of its elections, which took place the end of November in The Bahamas.

Theodore, the outgoing First Vice President of CAIPA, takes the reigns from Lestroy Samuel, Executive Director of the Antigua and Barbuda Investment Authority (ABIA). Samuel will now serve on the new Board as an ex-officio member.

The press release also reported that Sancia Bennet Templer of JAMPRO Ltd. will serve as First Vice President, while Dr. Jean Alain Rodriguez of the Centre for Export and Investment in the Dominican Republic will serve as the Second Vice. The other Board Directors, according to the release, are McHale Andrew, CEO of Invest Saint Lucia; Kelvin Mahabir, President of invesTT; Cleo Huggins, Executive Director of InvestSVG; and Melanie Gideon, Deputy Executive Director of BELTRAIDE.

CAIPA serves as an umbrella grouping for its 19 regional members and seeks as an organisation, to increase collaboration between investment promotion agencies and foster a regional approach to attracting investment.

The current Board will serve for a period of two years ending in November 2014. (RA/PR)
