NAWASA to upgrade network at Spring Garden system
Consumers served by the Spring Garden Water Treatment Plant in the parish of St. Andrew will soon receive an enhanced water supply as a result of $46 000 investment by the National Water and Sewerage Authority (NAWASA).
Over the next three months, network upgrade will see the replacement of defective pipelines from the transmission main and raw water lines from the Capital Dam in St. James.
The first phase of work ends on December 21, 2012. It will recommence on Monday, January 7, 2013 to be completed by the end of February 2013.
The project activity spans the area of the Upper Capital Bridge to Brandon Hall Water Treatment Plant. Some inconvenience is anticipated for the duration of the project for consumers from the Upper Capital Bridge to Brandon Hall and also Belle Vue Land. Consumers are advised to take precaution with regard to water storage and traffic delays.
Chief Engineer, Nigel Lowe, said: “This project will impact positively on revenue and reduce operating costs associated with frequent repairs.”
The Authority assures that inconveniences suffered in the short term will augur well for all concerned in the very near future.
